A former film studio publicist, Denise Fleck founded Sunny-dog Ink in 1999 to Help People Help Their Pets! In addition to being an Animal Advocate, Animal Care Instructor & Lecturer (specializing in Pet First-Aid & CPR), Denise is a freelance writer for publications including: Dog Fancy, Dogs USA, Dogs for Kids, Dog Sport, Dog Days in L.A. and The Pet Press. She has appeared on Animal Planet's "Groomer Has It," where she taught eight very competitive groomers her life-saving skills. Additionally, Denise has been seen on CNN Headline News, KTLA Morning News, "Rescue Roundtable, and PBS-TV's "Lassie's Pet Vet." She is a frequent guest on the "My Buddy Butch" Radio Show and has also done interviews on Animal Radio, Clear Channel's "Animal Corner" and Barbara Niven's "Animal Rescue Radio."

Denise has trained with seven national organizations in animal life-saving skills including The American Red Cross, Humane Society of the United States, American Humane Association, Pet Tech, Inc., and the American Health & Safety Institute. She continues to attend and participate in a variety of animal-related seminars and workshops each year and hones her skills doing volunteer Rescue Work and as a member of the Surf City Animal Response Team, but feels her greatest lessons learned come from having been Dog Mom to Eleven and Cat Mom to one over the years.

  • Is a volunteer and the Public Relations Manger for the Volunteers of the Burbank Animal Shelter (VBAS)
  • Has trained in numerous FEMA and Disaster Preparedness Courses
  • Has qualified for CERT (Community Emergency Response Team)
  • Has been Dog Mom to Eleven and Cat Mom to One as well as being a rescue volunteer so she has a significant amount of hands-on experience and knows the information she provides in her lectures and writing really can work!
